I’m in the mag! (something like that) Hello Bert!

I have taken my entire rest day/ weekend to study more about photography. It’s my new hobbies and I find it very “stimulating”. Male loves huge THINGS! I want a 70 – 200mm canon L lens. The bigger the better! Price? It’s an expensive mistake to rectify at a later date. ROFL

I meet a professional photographer on the net yesterday and his name is Bert Stephani from Belgium. Less than 24 hours this is what I like to say — A great guy, a very loving person, Passionate about his work, a very generous and polite person! He even response to my twits while he is preparing his 2 sons for joining Special Forces! Bert, you are the best! Seriously, I like your work its brilliant work and I love them all!

Seriously I want this (below picture) any one of you know where can I obtain a second hand?

Talking about photography here’s one person I like you to meet! She a professional artist and she is Kim Barker from Australia. (Oh I miss Gold Coast badly, will plan to visit again someday.) Anywhooo, Kim works on portrait and her art are breath taking! Check out her portfolio on Kelly, Charlotte and Andre Rieu. Extraordinary work, The Sydney Morning Herald has the interview. Kim is a lovely person and a very generous one as well! Check out her contest for a portrait worth $6,000 for Christmas!

I like to take part in this contest too. I like to win a portrait of my mom.

Every time I look into my mom eyes I know there’s one thing she kept screaming and screaming inside. My lack of present with her, I know I’m dumb! I am near and yet so far. I spend very least time with my mom it’s hard to explain why. I was her gold and I can’t be parted with her when I was young, I would cry so hard that people around me just hate me because I’m loud! I love my mom so much that I just can’t live without her! But that’s has changed, I guess life taught me to be independence and I cry no more and I was so independence that I forgot to go home and when I did, I just don’t know what to do or say. I wish I could still be so close, I like to be her baby again like she uses to cuddle me when I cry, happy or sad. Buy me stuff when I act cute bring to me to every where she go and in her heart I was the number one.

If I win this portrait I will try to make it work again… “Mom I have something special for you and it’s really really special!” I hope to see her shinning eyes with hope and dream again.

Kim, thanks for sharing your generosity with the world! {{hugz}}

It’s time to hit the hay! Thank you “you” the fantastic peoples who brings peace in this world.

EOS Experience Seminar 2008 Kuching

This is my first time attending DSLR enthusiast seminar. I really hope for something extravaganza but I guess I’m just feeling fine after all. I am sure if the second seminar would still be the same topic as this one, I count myself out!

I expect I would find more tips and trick for better and stunning photography. Obviously the seminar didn’t fulfill my needs although I must admit am impress with the speaker’s knowledge in photography, their connection with the well known artists are awesome!

Nevertheless this seminar is well suited for newbie and amateur. Topics includes

  • Working with color management between camera, PC and printer.
Not a new input for me but a refresher. Mr. Kaz Chua (speaker) talk about few thousand ringgit equipment to calibrate screen color – maybe alternative free true color calibrator software could be useful for poor guy like me! (software calibration may not be 100% accurate but not a bit deal for experimental)Canon is not just produces cameras, in Malaysia Canon probably the largest printing equipment distributor. There’s no surprise if you have a Canon camera with Canon printer, your photos should look really stunning and hassle free with your PC calibration. (maybe)

Anyway, be gentle with RGB and CMYK color profiles :) If you are too worry with your picture output, covert your picture to CMYK profile using Photoshop before printing. Good luck!

  • Printing resolution (DPI)
If you are using 72 DPI that’s for web! During my time working with my friend’s company, I design and working with grayscale ads in 200 DPI on a daily basis. My Celeron processor is suck at this point, crawl slower than snail! These day core 2 duo processor make these job an ease!
  • White color balance
I am so lost in this topic. Since the speaker did not really give a proper point on how to have better control over white color balance while taking photo, if you are a pro, care to share? appreciate your input.Mr. Kaz explains using AWB normally work fine.
  • Noise
I pick up a better idea on how to use ISO from the Copal Digital’s staff. I visited them too often. I have become too familiar to them. In fact I was invited by them to join this seminar for free (I heard the seminar cost RM150). Thanks dude!

There’s few other thing that were mention in the seminar by another speaker, Mr. Teoh. As advice by the Pro, invests in camera body and lenses should worth it! In exchange you get quality pictures and prints. The speaker notice that not many Kuching people using Canon EOS 1D mark lll compare to Kota Kinabalu’s seminar! I am not surprise though, Kuching people is always on a conservative side and they often use Nikon.

EOS Experience Seminar 2008 Kuching

Since the seminar was held in 5 stars hotel, lunch was fantastic!

Interesting enough, I met my school mate that I have not been in contact for the past 13 years! Adam is still the soft spoken guy that I know since primary school. Went to New Zealand to further study, he is now married with 2 children and a job as an accountant. He introduces me to Jason who was in fact a school mate too! Jason is working for TM.

I also bum in Canon staff also a friend of mine. I love his story about a rich people in Philippines who spend their time BBQ-ing at the cemetery during weekend!

I learn a lot from this seminar although it wasn’t really what I expected. I hope next year Canon will give us more models to shoot!
