4 reasons why I love Tony Fernandes

As much as I love Steve Jobs or Bill Gates, I love Tony more.

He has his dream come true, He put Malaysia on the map and he has a team that makes everything happen! (I know all leaders more or less have these quality but this guy right here is a Malaysian)

Bloggers can reach as far as a netizen to tell the world where the hell is Malaysia but this guy fly the red machine across ASEAN, build low cost hotel all over, and the Lotus F1 dream. He started this all with only 2 airplanes in 2001!

People were writing our obituary before we could even take off. Today we have 90 planes (and growing) and we’re crossing continents. ‘Tis a great feeling, confounding skeptics.1 — Tony Fernandes

My Trip To China Zhuhai 珠海 Part 1

How are you my great followers and lovers? Ohhh I know I have been pretty quite lately hahahaha! Have been distracted by work and daily routine, can’t help it. Life can be very cruel sometime isn’t it? you get some, you lose some. Never had enough time to do everything we want and we make sacrifices. In my case, Blogging!

Also, I am so sorry if I haven’t been visiting your blog lately and you know that I don’t mean to neglect reading your blog. Will fly by your blog one at a time, I promise.

So here’s a bit of updates on my trip to China and I will updates more when my time and my routine permit.

We were flying AirAsia on this trip and was also my first long haul flight with AirAsia. I complain about foods served on board Malaysia Airlines before and I’m dropping this topic on AirAsia – I can never be satisfy and happy, period.

I do like to comment two things however, one, The foods was not enough for every one to BUY and two, I do recommend everyone who flying long haul on AirAsia should consider to get the premium class ticket if you can afford.

It’s took 4 hours from Kuching to Macao airport before we finally landed at 8.30pm and make our way to immigration to quickly check out. Quickly, other wise you would stuck in the next immigration for hours and hours and yes we did!

Oh Btw, AirAsia is terminating the Kuching – Macao flight for the second time in 2 years.

We cross over to Zhuhai, Guangdong province via Gongbei Port. You really don’t want to mess with this port, it was busy as hell! You are highly recommended to cross over during evening time.

Psst! Lot of Mainland Chinese chicks with LV, Gucci and all other branded goods crossing this port. :) Macao is truly a shopping haven for the Mainland Chinese!

We finally out from Gongbei Port at 11pm, phew! We than straight to the bus stop waiting for our coach with dusty and smelly treat for 30min! Ah! Very tired :) I think I manage to capture few great shots under very bad circumstances. Hehehe!

It’s a relief to have entered Zhuhai after 3 hours. We have problem with the health declaration form in Gongbei Port earlier.

Zhuhai night scene is kinda cool :)

We reached our hotel room at 11.30pm, tired and hungry! We put down our luggage and the first thing we did was looking for food. Not sure we would enjoy our foods but we sure need some foods :)

Here some shots of the locations where we had our midnight supper and it was windy “yeay!” cool! And dusty! “Boooooooo!”

So we had our supper, we get drinking water on our way back to hotel and I have to tell you, it is very dusty here. I like the cold windy temperature though.

First part end here, will continue writing (tomorrow hopefully). Trivia question: what’s so special about Zhuhai? What’s the connection between the two, Macao?
Will let you know soon :)

Good night!

(singing: I got the feeling… tonight it’s a good good night!)

On a plane to Macao with AirAsia and resting my busy head

25th March 2010, 6pm, in a plane…

This is crazy. Im already on a plane to Macau and should be reaching in 3 hours and 45minutes!

I have been very busy ever since my mother-in-law passed away. I think every one of us did. We try to occupy ourselves with lot of activities. The pain is still in every one heart and the medicine we need right now is “busy”.

ShingoT wrote a very touching stories about a girl name Lisa few month ago and I can’t help to share story of my beloved mother-in-law after reading his post. He later shared my comment to all his friends in his latest post with lot of lot of kind comments and encouragement in return.

I thank you Shingo T, you’re one awesome guy! (or uncle as every one call you? Hahaha) this world need more people like you, kind and thoughtful.

I have never seen any one with proper planning before vacation other than MKL. He basically do his research, wrote some comparison than throw some imagination and if that not enough he even wrote in his/her perspective. How exciting!

I on the other hand, busy, busy, busy than grab my bag board the plane, off I go! I did not have any expectation nor direction. I am more like “surprise me! Hit me!” hahahaha I will not even know how Macau look like if I wasn’t reading MKL recent visit to Macau.

@Hardrock.com

It’s not quite true that I do not have direction. One, my friend Jimmy in Singapore already asking me to get him Hard Rock Cafe Tshirt. Two, every one else ask me to taste the Portuguese egg tart for them and my friend Dennis request that I “tapao” for him and send it right back to Kuching. Three, lot of photos! MKL was there last week and already missing Macau? Wow!

I bought a total of 16gb of memories for this trip! I am expecting spectacular and out of this world awesomeness from Macau, Hong Kong, ShenZhen and Disney. I almost wanted to buy a new lens but I didn’t because I am saving for my 407! I think I would get a tripod here.

While traveling I am still thinking of business. Kind of shame when talking to some businessmen on board but I don’t have name card to give out.

I enjoy this flight more than any other flight, it feels like home! About 60% of the passenger are Chinese Hakka and it so different to travel with these communities. It feels like bringing our home traveling with us.

Chinese Hakka love to talk, no matter where they go they will chat about water (have you drink enough water before you board the plane? Very health conscious), chat about prayer at Buddhist temple, invite people to sing! (every Hakka love to sing!), keep asking about time (They dont understand english so I would translate), they laugh out loud (They are really happy people when they got to travel), talk about shower (Hakka people love to shower! They shower 3 times a day! Myself included when I am not working)

I was talking to a Chinese Hakka bos recently and he is concern that the young Hakka generation will not speak Hakka any more, most of us speak Mandarin on a daily basis. I would suggest parent should make it a habit speaking Hakka to their children or else Hakka language would be forgotten.

Here a question for you guys. Do you take note of how many times your belonging travel with you? Hahahaha I have this habit!

My Nike Air 360, Tissot watch, windbreaker has been to Japan. My Macbook, Hush Puppy bag, Canon D400, 70-200mm, kit lens, 50mm lens, lens filters travel with me for the very first time! I think I like to dedicate a page for my belonging of where have they been traveling! It would be awesome! Wow, very original! I think I like to give them a title “have belonging will travel!” what do you think?

Now that my journey has started I like to clear one myth, they said when you travel in group and by a tour guide you normally would be force into paying in all the places you go. Let us see how true!

Happy Holiday, Yay!!!
