White Rajahs and the Fort Margarita Kuching

This was Fort Margarita, constructed by Charles Brooke in 1879 at a cost of $8,000 and named after his wife, Ranee Margaret.
The last time I visited Fort Margarita probably some 20 years ago. Believe it or not, Fort Margarita is only less than 20 minutes from Sarawak River. Why would Kuching people like myself haven’t been visiting the world historic places is unknown.
A picture above was inspired by the return of the great-great-grandson of Sarawak’s second White Rajah, Charles Brooke to Sarawak. Jason Brooke’s grandfather rules Sarawak as a king “Rajah” from 1841 – 1946.
It’s a rainy day at the fort…
Good short intro about one of my favourite spot in the cat city. Many do not know especially young sarawakians that we were an independent country under Brooke’s rule ( not colonised ). So sad our Malaysianised history is not accurate. We cannot find original English buildings like ours elsewhere in other part of malaysia. Anyway we should be proud our king was an “angmoh” he..he.he… BTW, I’ll be back on 14 Aug. See ya
I think the last time I went there was with you! This time when you coem back, want to pay a visit? I am wondering the human skull is still there? I also like to take the photo of the place where they hang prisoner to death.
