Malaysia Airlines Sucks

Nothing more refreshing than reach home early! Have nice shower and maybe a game or two of badminton. Away from home for a week and wanting to go home is normal to a lot of people having suffer the traffic jam to reach home, maybe are normal too.

If you are looking forward for a nice weekend and end up screwing it up, it’s frustrating. Having told that your flight is delay or cancelled due to technical problem is frustrating. Having the same experience twice is ~!@#$%^&* FRUSTRATING WITH ANGER

STAY away from Malaysia Airlines System (MAS) flight 7.45pm, Kuching – Kota Kinabalu on Friday or on weekdays! Use Air Asia if you want to fly home without delay. Forget about MAS service, forget about MH – Malaysia Hospitality! It’s a ~!@#$%^&&*& LIE!

Why pay for extra when you are actually pay for frustration? Why pay extra when you want to reach home early instead low cost Air Asia reach home first?

So after you get frustrated, what do they give you? A piece of KFC meal voucher for dinner! Do they want to replace your frustration and time with a cheap voucher? High hormone chicken and high sugar contains soft drink to quick fix your mental patience? (I use it any way – I’m so hungry. So the voucher comes in handy or as bribe?)
If you are angry they will give you voucher, don\'t worry?
I have all to believe MAS RIPPED you off your wallets and your precious times. I wasted my 4 hours today and the same amount of hours last 2 week on the same day and time. Today I am so frustrated that I lost my coolness! I wasted my time writing this negative post!

If MAS having problem with less customer to fly in the evening, then don’t do it! Why do it to let down your customers?

Malaysia Airlines

Malaysia Airlines

Malaysia Airlines

So MAS, you think it’s funny?

Like any other business, airlines in Malaysia can’t keep up to their own standard due to bad management or the so call “unforeseen circumstances”. Don’t get me wrong, nothing is perfect in any business accept “you” can always make the right choice.

Services Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Air Asia
  • Online Ticketing – Seating, seating system** Please choose after 6 rows seating or near exit doors, in case your flight going down you will have higher survivor rate.
  • Choose your own seating for all the flight! Very flexible! Air Asia customer would normally be slam “you ingat ini Air Asia ka? Duduk ikut nombor laa!” by the steward or stewardess. They threw a very sinister look.
  • Only vailable for flight to Australia and Hangzhou (Shanghai). Premium “XL” Seats can charge up to 1K. Free seating for all the flight except long haul flight you get to select your seat from the website.
  • Express boarding – Only RM10 you can walk like a king, choose your sit and most important, save your time Q up for boarding. Sometime the Air Asia crews is too “pai seh” for the old people so they ask the older folks to board the plane the same time as the express boarding paying customer. I guess their promises made to their 360 mag reader are just a lie! No more mistake?
  • Online Ticketing, when to purchase?
  • 2 days in advance. This is totally not flexible.
  • 4 hours in advance. This is very convenience for last minutes booking. This is especially handy for bad time management consumers.
  • Online Ticketing, changes.
  • You may change flight time and day. Very handy if you are late or something at least you won’t waste your money away so much. Not available for Super Saver ticket. I guess not much different than low cost carrier?
  • If you are late for your flight for whatever reason, you can’t change flight time/ day even if you have money to pay for it. Ticket not use considers burn!
Air Asia says, “Now any one can fly but let’s charge them if they don’t fly!
  • For some reason MAS thinks it’s right! MAS announce the “trick” through TV, radio and Goggles ads in Q2 2008 to boost their flight. Hit hard by Air Asia?
  • Check in counter
  • 30 minutes before departure. Except super saver, your ticket can be rescheduling with penalty. Still better than whole ticket burn off.
  • You can check in 24 hours before flight time. Travel agent may even check in for you 2 days in advance.
  • 45 minutes before departure. This is where the shit hit you if you are late, your ticket consider burn! Go on curse all you want you can even use Patrick Teoh favorites curse, NIAMAH!!!
  • Web check-in and Kiosk check-in is available! Express boarding
  • In flight meal
  • Degrading and moving toward “light” meal and soon Kuching – KL won’t have any meal. MAS mean 15g peanuts is light meal but I think it’s more like a junk food. Maybe it’s just me?
However the coffee, tea, small bun and orange juice onboard are still very acceptable.
Normally they will try to serve you as simple as possible, if you are not asking for it you won’t get it. Get it?
  • You get to choose your meal for long haul flight.
Meal on MAS is boring – MAS has been very, very lazy to make their meals exciting and creative. Wake up pal!
  • Order your meal when you purchase your ticket. From RM4 – RM7 for all flight and RM20 meal for long haul flight. Personally I would prefer local coffee not the 3 in 1 coffee.
  • I like their Sandwich, for RM5 these sandwiches are incredibly delicious!
  • Nothing is free on Air Asia but I have to say they are creative and they mean business!
  • The flight attendants sometime get quite lazy to sales the in-flight meals knowing the pattern on certain passenger couldn’t careless of them. How pathetic!
  • Meal maybe as fresh as it can be, depending on how lazy their people keep up to their standard. No offense, even top franchise restaurant having difficulty to control quality what more to say about Air Asia or MAS? Proof it to me if you disagree.
  • One very irrational rules of the pre booked meal online is – book 2 days in advance! What kind of rules is that? Not like you are not selling meal on a daily basis!
If you read Kenny Sia’s blog lately you would find out that Air Asia is ENCHANCING their in flight meal menu. With all the great people Kenny have met he also turns out to be happier to write happy thing and buried some other facts.
  • The use of aero bridge
  • All the flight excepts MAS Wings
  • If you are lucky! Or else you would need to walk the miles. Up and down the stair case (dangerous for elderly people) rain or shine, walk at your own risk.
When the plane gets wet, the floor is totally soaked! You kept thinking where the water goes? It may drip on the electrical and risk of malfunction. Plane diving anyone? You jump I jump?
  • Ever since KK – Kuching route on Airbus, kind of lucky to be able to relax your foot with aero bridge. Low cost airlines will try to cut cost, RM85 per hour on rental from Malaysian Airport Berhad (MAB) is not what Air Asia keen on because indirectly it’s add on to passenger’s ticket price.
  • Long haul flight service
  • In comparison to Singapore Airlines (SIA), MAS suck!
  • MAS use tissues as hot towel. Are we talking about saving the trees here? And also No tooth paste/brush (even Japan Ramen store use proper hot towel) SIA menu is first class! Like I said, MAS LAZY with their menu and it’s not creative!
  • This is what I ate on board MAS KL - Tokyo…
    KL - Tokyo route
  • This is the menu on board Singapore Airlines…
Singapore - Brisbane route, top class meal menu!
  • No Idea (don’t tell me Air Asia don’t have hot towel!)
  • Website UI
  • Fair
  • Confusing. E.g. GoInsure Travel Protection. Flight time and date sometime seem to be confusing. Personally I have made wrong booking few times. I am sure you too?
  • Branding
  • Other than National carrier, NOTHING except MH. MAS claim it’s Malaysia Hospitality
  • Manchester United, Williams F1 Team, Air Asia X
  • The myth and the perception of Malaysian people toward both Airline
  • Passenger are mostly rich people
  • Passenger is more educated and more civilize and know how to Q and will not rush to the boarding gate.
  • Thinks Air Asia is cheapskate
  • Has more LV, Gucci, branded shit than Air Asia
  • “Kiamsiap” people, even RM5 meal also don’t want to pay. Always say NO to everything.
  • Poor cow people
  • “Kiasu” no seat, No manners, don’t know how to Q, Cut Q, and etc…
  • When the flight is cheap, people get to travel and more weird people onboard.
  • Zero fare is cheap! (How true is that?)

By the time I reach this paragraph my frustration has since gone. They say if you are sad or angry it’s good to release it/ share it and you will get over it. By the way, good job to the airlines for making money out all the frustrated customers.

    Hye Michelle.

Utk pengetahuan u i slalu juga fly from s’jung to borneo,& slalu flight delay bila menggunakan perkhidmatan MAS. Expecially kalau kena transit di kuching…memakan masa hingga 4 to 5 hrs. I ingat lagi 1st time i gunakan perkhidmatan kapal terbang, i fly ke Borneo (Bintulu). Waktu tu bulan puasa, i tak tahu pun if naik MAS kita bleh takeaway meals yg di beri. Tp steward yg bertugas (JB-KCHG) tak pun bagi tahu @ beri pada i (sedangkan I DAH CAKAP INI PENERBANGAN 1st I) I terpaksa tahan lapar, coz time tu 1st time i pergi tempat org, so i tak tahu waktu berbuka yg tepat (kerana cuaca hujan lebat) & dalam pocket i cuma ada RM20 & sekeping coklat. Paling i bengang sekali adalah penerbangan ke Bintulu dari Kuching (hari yg sama setelah transit lebih krg 3hrs), ada 1 org stewardess dalam foker yg hangin tak tentu pasal, i kena marah coz salah sit, sudahlah i lapar lagi letih, mestilah tumpuan kita pun kurang. Mujur ada seorang lagi rakan dia menunjukkan tempat yg betul pd i. I akan ingat sampai bila2 apa yg pihak MAS beri pd i. Bila dah selalu guna khidmat MAS,if smthing tak betul staf dia buat pd i, senang saja, i tempelak balik staf2 dia. I naik flight dia i bayar bukan free of charge, now i slalu amalkan “Customer is always right”. My friend pernah lepaskan geram coz layanan buruk dari steward&stwrdss MAS, dia cut talipinggang seat flight tu…i pun tak tahu apa yg terjadi pada penerbangan seterusnya, coz ada beberapa seat yang tak sempurna & ramai juga my friend “jahanamkan” seat MAS…dengan cara tu mereka puas hati…

Well if u think MAS sucks then listen to this I have flown with Air Asia nearly 15 times! Never once i was satisfied even with their lowest fair. Because when u do online booking many hidden charges! Im a regular flyer

Also out of 15 flights i boarded 10 were delayed 2 were retimed. Talk about that eh…. u dont think this is true ill proof it you (mostly flights from KK to KL)

    1. AK 5123
    2. AK 5113
    3. AK 5106

COULDNT remember the others cuz im mad of their service. But most were KK to KL flights!

When i ask their staff all they say do is apologize and dont give what’s the reason.

And very sorry to say their Airbuses starts to stink with body odour maybe its because of the rain and sweat the passengers carry when they embark and stick it to their Italian Leather seats! SORRY TO SAY AIR ASIA HAS MORE TO IMPROVE!

  7. on 13 Oct 2008 at 9:19 pm Netster

    Hello FSXPRO,

I have to agree with you on 2 things above! Delay flights & body odor on Air Asia flight. I really pity the new airbus got wet inside out during raining season when the plane stop at LCCT this could have causes a plane crash or accident onboard to elderly people due to slippery floor. I do not think the plane will have a long life span with water keeps getting into the plane.

Air Asia operates AS and When they have enough customer and they can’t push it to fly if they do not have enough. They will go bankrupt soon enough if they pushing it. Of cause they do not wish to let down their customer but still it doesn’t stop the facts that they are being unfair.

I suppose to go holiday in Macau boarding Air Asia flight this coming Jan. the flight are now cancelled by Air Asia with lame excuses, flight bounce back from Macau – Kuching does not have enough passengers! Kuching – Bali route was cancelled few months backs. My friend and her family were so furious by the cancellation.

It seem that Air Asia has this “You buy first fly later – if low passenger consider cancel” motto. This should not be a way to test drive the market and making their customers as a test rat. I would suggest that Air Asia should at least make a commitment by giving ample time for people to fly before it was cancel as and when they like to these entire new route. “Now everyone can fly” hold true to it!

Anyway, 3 of my friend and me are very very very angry with the cancellation of Macau flight. We are going to the office complain.

    FSXPRO, thanks for your comment.

    Nice nick ;)

  8. on 31 Oct 2008 at 12:06 am Traveller

Beware. Even you flight is cancelled, Air Asia promises a “full” refund of your money is only the initial amount you have paid to purchase the air ticket. The flight change fee, name change fee or any other fees you have paid subsequently, if any, are NOT refundable. Oh boy, they still make more money by cancelling the flights !!

  9. on 05 Nov 2008 at 11:37 pm Netster

I have more than 3 canceled tickets that I didn’t claim back for the petrol charges. They need you to visit the office for this type of claiming. Yes they make more money from canceled flight hehehehe MAS air Asia samo samo

My cancel flight Kuching - Macau, Air Asia send email few weeks later promise free reroute from KCH - KL - Macau but we cancel the trip already. Took so long to offer such a thing. what a gimmick.

  10. on 03 Dec 2008 at 9:37 pm malaysian hospitality

MAS delayed their flight maybe because something happened to their aircraft..they grounded the aircraft n fix it until it’s airworthy to fly even it was a small defect..it’s take time…i heard that the red colour airlines will defer the defects as much as they can (as per Minimum Equiptment List)..it still can fly..but..dont u think it is dangerous for the passenger?passenger don’t know anything about it..so..think about it!

  11. on 03 Dec 2008 at 9:59 pm Netster

    Hello MH,

you have got a good point. anyhow, when they delay the flight on the same schedule time and when you notice low customer in the airport… this delay flight thinggy, is just too suspicious.

thanks for taking your time to comment, really appreciate it :)

    hello…

my cousin flight did not make it his flight to combodia with air asia coz the gate was change without his notice.this still ok…
the best is my cousin’s bag that already check in was on that flight and not been off loaded.
airline regulation is passenger bag have to be off loaded if the passenger is not on that particular flight.when i ask the ground staff to explain,he cant and ask me to call to their call center to make a complaint about it…izit safe to travel with air asia!! what if someone try to do something stupid with the airline..
from that day no one in my family travel with air asia again..airline without safety practise…huhh

  13. on 08 Dec 2008 at 7:59 pm Netster

    Hello LT,

I hope your sis already got back her luggage! any changes to flight time AirAsia normally send message via SMS. it’s a good idea to update your phone number in case flight changes. also they won’t call your phone if you happen to have checked in and fail to board the plane.

I experience it myself and it’s felt awful to see the gate closed and you couldn’t board the plane. you just want to curse this people to death. If I were AirAsia staff I would take that extra initiative to call customer by phone instead making the announcement via a speaker that couldn’t be heard by customer who is outside the departure hall.

anyway, both air Airlines can be the best or can be the worse. depend on their management which one is their priority and goals.

Well I jus flew to KL by Mas on flight MH2617. Flight was splendid everthing was okay meal was delicious and up to my standard except their plane is getting a little old(still it was an Airbus). Fare was a lot more cheaper than Air Asia. Thats tHE good news.

The BAD NEWS!! was my returned flight sucks big time not only it was delayed 20minutes(okay maybe not so bad as Air Asia) Their flight attendent only seem to be caring the foreigners instead of locals(since this flight will be heading to Korea Seaul later)!!! also food is unbelieveable!!! a 2 and half hour flight and all they give me is crap kaya bread go to hell man this is what u call 5 stars i dont think so. next time better avoid transit flight even though its a very low fare.

    Flight taken was:
MH2617-flight was good better take this flight
    MH64-sucks rather take Air Asia!

  18. on 01 Jan 2009 at 12:27 pm Netster

    Happy New Year Fsx Pro!

I would like to go to Korea some day! I hope the food isn’t so bad although I never pay attention Korean food sold locally. I don’t really like the Kimchi maybe in Korea it taste nice :)

Kaya bread? that’s suck big time! Maybe MAS’s opinion on Kaya - appealing to foreigner? In my opinion, the airlines industrial in Malaysia should really seriously cater variety of food they serve on board. Not just serving foreigner but also it has to be appealing to Malaysian! Don’t push us to the wall, we are a paying customer and we deserve to be serve fairly.

what’s up with the flight attendance? Oh this is really pathetic and uncool! This is discrimination against Malaysian! Should be reported to MAS.

Thanks for sharing! Happy New Year to you and every one at home :)

  22. on 15 Mar 2009 at 7:41 am Flyer

U think MAS sucks? I’ve been on British Airways, Lufhansa, and Qantas before. Their service is not that much better. I prefer MAS much-much more. Our hosipitality is different and food my far-far better. I’m not saying MAS is perfect, there are bound to be delays, etc. I myself have been on MAS delayed flights. But thats there norm when flying commercial theses days. Like another commentor earlier said, if u was hassle free top notch service, charter a private jet!!!

    Hello Wan,

I just got back from KL… I had a very BAD (disastrous) experience with Air Asia and TuneHotel LCCT!

Unbelievable service! given a bad economic situation airlines or any other business should buck up their service!.

Tunehotel LCCT service, I give it RATING OF 1 (worse service ever)

    very disappointing

    Thanks commenting Wan.

    Cheers

I am surprised your only venting off your frustrations on the airline delay. Malaysia sucks like hell from any outsiders point of view. Very backward country, and nothing seem to work. Way to go Malaysia. People who live in trees making pirated cd/movies. Thanks to the corrupted government.

  27. on 18 Apr 2009 at 10:03 am Netster

    Hello NYC Expat,

How are you? Thank you for taking your time to comment. politically, I’m not the best person to comment however people around me seem to agreed with you . I am still learning, one step at a time.

I will show my unhappiness through vote and I think this is the best and harmony way to bring down the leader who misuse the trust and monies of it peoples. Other than that, I hope the people themselves are not corrupted and know their right to protect their own right. The people will become obligated to protect their right due to their lack of knowledge politically and culturally by receiving inducement and gifts from the powerful people as a token of appreciation. I think people have come to realize that their trust as been misuse and this can be seen from the general election and the by-election.

But still, people like myself are still long way to go to understand political and ideology on it own land and other part of the world.

I do agreed however on the pirated cd/movies or software the government play their part in making sure it is zero tolerance. I have much to complain about this one as I am one of those who bought original copy and felt worthless when other getting it for cheap price. Worse still, some original DVD I bought look exactly like pirated DVD! What a bunch of baloney that is!

Thank you and I think my post is way out of the topic LOL
