I am lis­ten­ing to Smash­ing Pump­kins (SP) new album! The first album of seven years! I love what I hear and it brings me back to the time I fall for them right from the first song I lis­ten to, “I am One” from the “Gish” album (1991)

In the early 90s to mid 90s there were few grunge/Alternative bands that really make a huge impres­sion in my life, namely Nir­vana, SoundGar­den, Sonic Youth, Stone Tem­ple Pilot, L7 and Green Day. After Kurt Cobain takes his own life in 1994 (or mur­dered some might argue) I have begin to just lis­ten­ing to SP, Foo Fight­ers and HOLE. This is because I really love them dearly. (I am still very sad­den by Kurt’s departed up till today. I learn to play gui­tar for the first time after lis­ten­ing to “smell like teen spirit”)

After the late 90s, I have stop fol­low­ing grunge music since than.

I was delighted to know SP was doing their record­ing few month ago when I was watch­ing E!. I was jump­ing up high to know that one of the SP songs was a “Trans­former” sound track. (Giv­ing me hints that an album is out soon!) I didn’t know what the title than but now was yeah! It’s called “Doom­days Clock”

The Pros

• All the songs is gorgeous
• The SP taste still pre­serve (this is very impor­tant! Good Job!)
• “Global environmental/ war issues” consciousness

The Cons

• Only Jimmy Cham­ber­lin remind in SP
• What’s the heck with Paris Hilton doing in the album art? It’s a big mis­take with the hotel heiress please Paris Hilton.

All in all, I am very happy with the album except for the Paris Hilton art­work. (Crazy!) This is my great­est album of the year! (My Linkin park too, definitely!)
