I’m cur­rently lis­ten­ing to…

The very first time I heard of Jay Chow was; say 5 or 6 years ago. The first song that makes my brain jump was “Ninja” yes, what kind of song was that? It’s a no fool song and this guy with tongue-twister-sing-in-murmur is really tal­ented. With this cur­rent new album more to the World music cat­e­gories , show case quite a lot of Chi­nese cul­tures while main­tain­ing the hip hop flavor.

My per­sonal favorite “(聽媽媽的話 Ting Ma Ma De Hua)/ Lis­ten to Mama’s Words”, ” (退後 Tui Hou)/ Step­ping Back”, and ” (白色風車 Bai Se Feng Che)/ White Wind­mills” the rest of the song was just cool. Also fea­tur­ing song from the lat­est movie The Curse Of The Golden Flower, “(菊花台 Ju Hua Tai)/Chrysanthemum Flower Bed” Stars Chow Yun Fatt, Gong Li and Jay Chow.

I saw the music video clips from satel­lites (run­ning 1 whole week before the album was release on Sep­tem­ber 2006, on Tai­wan TV chan­nel) show­ing “(本草綱目Beng Chao Gang Mu)/ A Herbalist’s Man­ual (Com­pendium of Mate­ria Med­ica)” Chi­nese ghost danc­ing in hip hop style was totally smash­ing! Jay Chow goes all the way direct­ing his own music video clips was a really a break through for him­self. It’s not all the time see­ing Tai­wanese music celebri­ties tak­ing own ini­tia­tive learn­ing every thing to cut down cost of pro­duc­tions. “(夜的第七章 Ye De Di Qi Zhang) /Twilight’s Chap­ter Seven” was shoot in Lon­don, kinda cool!

So if you are a hip­sters or a wannabe or you are look­ing for base­line to punch your car stereo-with-oversize-subwoofer to feel cool, this is your kinda CD to own! My advice is… If you are a Chi­nese you must own this CD in your car wher­ever you go.

I want to thank McKy for tak­ing it back from Tai­wan to Malaysia and in 1 piece! Thank you so much… I love imported CD/DVD. You have help me add one more imported CD/DVD into my col­lec­tion really appre­ci­ate it!
