This is my new W850i. I spend hours of hours in the middle of the night till 4.30am in the morning just to get up close! As close as possible *laugh*.
The phone came with a steady black box. You get 2 set of manual both in English and Malay (Indonesia version). A nice looking charger, USB cable, walkman ear phone and of course 1GB of Sony Memory Stick PRO Duo.
The usability & features
The shape of the phone is simply great. You feel comfortable on your palm. Slide up to activate keypad and slide down to lock keypad. The build in joy pad makes the design look great however the surface might be hard to navigate. It is strongly advice that you play with the joy pad before committing payment.
The camera features is just fantastic! Shortcut button is on top part of the phone for shoot mode; Normal, Panorama, Frames and burst. The short cut key also help you to lit and turn off the camera lights in a single press!
You will definitely appreciate W850i themes! As soon as you get your GPRS set up, head over to SE Wap site and you will get lot of free themes. My personal favorite would be female line and Grouped (SE original themes)
The other feature W850i has compare to the rest of the SE Walkman series phone is that, this model you can set your Clock to a large display. Fantastic! This phone has a feature to turn OFF or ON flight mode menu/screen during start up. You can set start up screen and Screen Saver to your liking. I especially like the show information from mp3 player when your mp3 player was minimize when you are using female line or group themes. It looks really cool. The mp3 player also supports album artwork. You need 3rd party software to make it work eg. iTunes
This phone has a build in modem; I have installed the software and try it out. It’s simply working perfectly. The only problem is that, Maxis charge for unlimited access for GPRS for RM120. Too expensive, other wise it’s good to switch to phone modem rather than dial up. (ehem! Am still using dial up due to no broadband coverage on my area) Anyway, Digi do have a very good plan on the time of this writing, Unlimited access for less than RM50 a month for supp line.
Overall, this is a great phone!
